A brief resumé

I have been fully DBS checked, so if you need to see my certificate, feel free to ask.

I have been teaching privately and in schools since 1995. My beginnings with being a music tutor started when people would ask me if I did guitar lessons at gigs I played. Initially I declined, but these requests were starting to come in thicker and faster than I could reasonably ignore.

I worked with an organisation called Access to Music, and went through their training programme. Their ethos was to take gigging musicians, and make them a saleable asset to mainstream schools.

Having completed their training programme, I was invited by the college where I did my placement year to work as a guitar tutor in their after-school music club.

Alongside the work in schools, I began teaching people privately, and this side of the business picked up momentum pretty quickly.

Having played in pubs, clubs, parties and corporate events on the local circuit, my experience of survival in the music business has given me a strong sense of what is valuable to the would-be music student.
